Environmental Review Completed for Burnsville Sanitary Landfill

Expansion plans for the Burnsville Sanitary Landfill in Minnesota continue following an environmental assessment.

The landfill is managed by Waste Management. The expansion will allow operations to continue until 2062.

The Freeway Landfill and Dump, just two miles down the road and no longer in operation, contains an unlined portion of the landfill. Officials are working on a clean-up project for the site. Kraemer Mining and Materials, also down the road from Burnsville, has been pumping groundwater to mine limestone. It provides the municipal water supply to Burnsville and Savage.
