Waste360 is an editorially-driven daily news outlet covering a wide range of topics in the waste and recycling industry, including:

  • Business operations

  • Legislation and regulation

  • Mergers and acquisitions

  • Collection and transfer (i.e. contracts, commercial, residential, transfer stations, waste reduction)

  • Energy (i.e. gas-to-energy, waste-to-energy, solar, operations)

  • Fleets and technology (i.e. automation, safety, fuel, trucks, route optimization)

  • Landfill (i.e. operations, closure, design and construction, emissions, equipment, leachate, nuisances)

  • Organics (i.e. anaerobic digestion, composting, food waste, yard waste)

Waste360 is a non-partisan news publication that strives to uphold a free exchange of information as outlined in the Code of Ethics developed and maintained by the Society of Professional Journalists. https://www.spj.org/ethicscode.asp. The editors reserve the right to refuse or remove the work of any contributor who does not practice an ethical approach to journalism.

Article Requirements

  • Write from an objective point of view. The information must be easy-to-understand and flow consistently throughout the article/story.

  • Articles should cater to Waste360's audience.

  • Articles should be at least 500 words. For longer features (3,000+ words), please consider splitting the article into two or three parts to make the content easier to digest.

  • Articles should include at least three sources, unless it’s a Q&A or profile. 

  • Articles should be original to the author and unpublished elsewhere. It must be exclusive to Waste360.

  • Include relevant article and study links within your text; we do not link back to a company’s website. Please note Waste360 will also add linkbacks to relevant articles on Waste360’s website.

  • Follow AP Style formatting and use industry-related terms.

  • All articles must undergo a reviewing, editing and approval process prior to publishing, which can take up to two weeks depending on editorial needs. 

  • Waste360 editors will deny any article that is inaccurate and/or plagiarized and reserves the right to refuse the future work of any author caught plagarizing.

In your submission, please include:

1.  The Article - Microsoft Word or PDF format.

2.  Photos - Hi-resolution (300 dpi) images, charts and graphs, as necessary. Please provide photo credit and caption, as needed.

3.  Author Information - Bio, headshot, contact information.

4.  Sources - Please include a list of sources and reference material you used for fact-checking purposes. All sources must be cited and credited within the article.

5.  Any notes about the timeliness of the article or how it should appear on the website (formatting, in a series, etc.)
