In April, Emerald Coast Utility Authority announced its decision not to renew its one-year contract (ending Dec. 31, 2020) for trash pickup in the north end of Santa Rosa County, Calif. Now, County Commissioners are negotiating with Waste Pro to expand its services across the entire county. 

Waste Pro’s current contract with Santa Rosa County covers only the south end, and the company has been the subject of local customer complaints. County Commissioners said the company has “turned things around in the past year.”

County staff is in the process of re-working procurement processes and negotiating contracts with Waste Pro. “The company would have to make a significant capital investment in the county if it doubles its customer base, including purchasing new trucks and hiring new staff.”
