Dodge Center, Minn.  –  McNeilus Truck and Manufacturing, Inc, an Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK) company, debuts the very latest in its fleet of technology-forward, no-nonsense innovations at Waste Expo, June 28-30 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Central Hall. The company is featuring the new Zero Radius™ Automated Side Loader with CartSeeker Curbside Automation and Telematics in the McNeilus booth #1823. CartSeeker brings artificial intelligence to curbside waste collection, reducing costs by as much as eight percent. The McNeilus Metro Pak Plus® Rear Loader will be featured in the food and beverage pavilion.

McNeilus has partnered with industry-leading technology companies to infuse its trucks with innovations that help improve efficiency, longevity and safety while providing flexibility and cost savings. It continues to offer best-in-class service and support, along with genuine McNeilus parts and replacement parts for all makes and models through its Street Smart Parts™ brand, online and in person.

“As North America’s only factory-direct builder of garbage trucks, we are inspired by customer input and informed by industry trends to continually innovate on our best-in-class trucks. Our Metro Pak Plus® Rear Loader, Zero Radius™ Automated Side Loader with CartSeeker Curbside Automation is a prime example of this,” said Matt McLeish, vice president of sales and marketing at McNeilus Truck and Manufacturing, Inc. “It’s yet another way we’re knocking down barriers that get in the way of keeping your business – and the trash industry – running.”

McNeilus Telematics Optimize Your Fleet

McNeilus Telematics provides everything needed to monitor fleet performance and productivity, simply and smoothly. The Micro Services Platform integrates with existing telematics programs for a single solution. Customize the data modules based on needs; track the entire fleet or just specific assets. Five pre-set APIs cover the chassis, body, faults, fuel, and GPS.

McNeilus has security totally covered. Data stored in memory on the truck is encrypted and stays that way when it moves to the Oshkosh IoT Platform, after which it is wiped from the truck memory. Access the data on desktop, tablet or mobile using a user-friendly portal and share seamlessly with your ERP System, Fleet CPS System and Fleet Maintenance System.

Nimble Navigator: McNeilus Zero Radius™ Automated Side Loader

The new Zero Radius™ Automated Side Loader features the largest hopper available of any side loader on the market and an extremely fast pack cycle.

The Zero Radius™ Automated Side Loader offers an innovative radius operation allowing for clearance issues, narrow streets, and alleyways. The arm reaches rather than swings out to grab 30-110 gallon cans. With optional 12-foot extended reach, it’s easy to navigate cul-de-sacs and obstructions such as parked cars.

Other enhancements include the McNeilus CODE™ controls system. These simplified CAN-based controls provide complete vehicle diagnostics. The side loader includes an integrated smart fuse panel, reduced hardware requirements, pre-trip reminders, status messages and more.

Innovations abound. This advanced refuse truck features Tailgate CNG, an easy-to-service, efficient system that allows the truck to stand up to the demands of refuse collection, and CartSeeker Curbside Automation that identifies and locates curbside waste carts and fully automates the operation of the truck’s robotic lift arm without joystick manipulation.

The Zero Radius™ Automated Side Loader benefits from significant fuel savings thanks to load-sense hydraulics. Full-eject body reduces chassis wear and simplifies operations, reducing exposure to hazards. A dump valve vents the oil, limiting operating pressure and helping the truck run more efficiently. And a non regen spool for ideal packer function and system pressure delivers the same amount of work with a lower amount of pressure.

Its durable design includes carriage enhancements, new finger pins and finger weldments bushings with a phase in of higher quality spherical baring. The truck features bolting rather than welding which means you can replace the wind guard as often as needed. Maintenance and servicing are now easier too thanks to larger access and the non-screw door on the truck’s street side. Software updates aid in operator experience and helps improve ease of training.

Packing a Powerful Punch in the Low Weight Class: Metro Pak Plus® Rear Loader

McNeilus unveils the lower cost, lower weight option of its reliable rear loader – the Metro Pak Plus® Rear Loader. This tough truck caters to rural or condensed areas and helps fill fleet or route gaps.

Its compact body size is ideal for weight-restricted roadways, smaller routes, and tighter areas. The Metro Pak Plus® Rear Loader is available in 20 yd3, 17 yd3 and 14 yd3 capacities.  And it’s quick, with a 24-second packing cycle and compaction ratio of 650-900 pounds per cubic yard. Reinforced design on tailgate side walls and pack and sweep panel means it will stand up to even the toughest wear and tear.

The Metro Pak Plus® Rear Loader is easy to operate, with great maneuverability, low cost, and excellent delivery time.

AI All Star: CartSeeker Curbside Automation

McNeilus’ partner CartSeeker Curbside Automation uses a patented AI-based cart recognition technology that identifies and locates curbside waste carts and fully automates the operation of the truck’s robotic lift arm without joystick manipulation. This helps cycle times, training time, safety, predictable scheduling and maintenance.

The robust vision recognition system technology identifies and determines the XYZ coordinates of curbside garbage carts in differing backgrounds, lighting and weather conditions. The carts are identified when in close proximity to other carts, at various angles to the curb, and whether or not they are open, closed or overflowing. Once the cart is identified, the operator simply activates “GO” and stops the truck in front of the cart which is then automatically picked up, dumped and placed back on the ground.
