Nonprofit Aims to Help San Diego Reach its Zero Waste Goals

San Diego adopted a zero waste goal in 2015. I Love A Clean San Diego is teaching people to help reach that goal.

"We believe that as we educate community members about why zero waste is so important and that it is within their grasp, we believe they will find a passion for the environment inside them. And that passion will spread to friends and neighbors and that will lead to a clean and healthy environment for our future," Emily Nelson, the education manager for I Love A Clean San Diego, told KPBS.

On Saturday, Jan. 28, the nonprofit is holding a zero waste in the home workshop. The workshop will go over what zero waste is, why it's important, what local jurisdictions are doing to support zero waste efforts and individual actions people can take.
