Maine City Offers Free Marijuana in Exchange for Litter Cleanup

In an effort to clean up the city of Gardiner, Maine, and educate people about a “life-changing substance,” the owners of Summit Medical Marijuana offered local residents 21 years or older free bags of marijuana in exchange for litter cleanup last Saturday.

The owners had heard about a town in Colorado that followed this concept and had success and decided to try it out for themselves.

If you visit the city of Gardiner, you may notice a little less debris along the streets and sidewalks.

That's because dozens of people spent a sunny Saturday collecting trash all over town.

The incentive? Free marijuana.
