On World Environment Day, the United Nations’ annual day that encourages worldwide awareness and action for the protection of the environment, nonprofits, communities, companies and individuals around the globe will be working to beat plastic pollution.

Plastic pollution is a global problem that’s harming both people and wildlife, so this year’s theme of beating plastic pollution encourages those around the world to help combat the plastic pollution crisis via cleanups, educational campaigns, waste reduction pledges and more.
