Since 1997, communities across the U.S. have joined forces on November 15 to celebrate America Recycles Day (ARD). Backed by Keep America Beautiful, ARD is comprised of hundreds of recycling activities and events throughout the country.

Over the past 30 years, the national recycling rate has increased. And the current recycling rate is 34 percent. In an effort to boost this rate, U.S. citizens are taking the pledge to recycle more and waste less. To date, 67,257 people have signed the pledge and various pledgees have shared their efforts via social media.

From recycling plastic bags and eyeglasses to offering recycling facility tours, nonprofits, communities and companies across the nation are gearing up to help make a difference.
