Veolia has announced it has agreed to a new, eight-year contract with the London Borough of Merton to provide waste and collection services as well as winer maintenance.

The new contract will begin this April and a key priority for Veolia will be to drive recycling while delivering more sustainable services to Merton while the area’s council focuses on being carbon neutral by 2030. Veolia will increase recycling capacity by introducing single chamber refuse collection vehicles, enabling collections to be completed in one trip.

“Building on our experience, we will work closely with the council to develop collection services whilst supporting them on their journey to net zero by decarbonising our operations. We are looking forward to working in partnership with Merton Council towards a more sustainable future that will benefit residents across the borough,” said Pascal Hauret, managing director of Municipal at Veolia.
