The University of Georgia is bringing reverse vending machines to campus to give students easier ways to recycle.
Through partnerships with Atlas, a reverse vending machine (RVM) company, Coca-Cola, and UGA Auxiliary Services, the school has been able to install four of the recycling machines so far.
“We're leveraging RVM technology to capture bottles and cans in a different way from curbside recycling,” said Renee Bedford, Atlas Director of Marketing and Sustainability. “What we're doing is taking the bottles and cans out of the waste stream and keeping them free of contaminants.”
