Pittsburgh — Amid concerns of the spread of the West Nile Virus, Pittsburgh’s Public Works department has announced that several area tire piles will be cleaned up by the Recovery Technology Group, Braddock, Pa.
Mosquito larvae were found in several tires at four illegal tire piles. Bill Todaro, the state health department spokesman, said he originally planned to spray the tire piles to kill mosquitoes, but he will not because the company plans to remove the tires by the end of the week.
