New recycling carts are heading to residents in St. Peters and Cottleville, Mo. to prepare for the launch of a new, single-stream recycling program.

The new blue bins began rolling out this week and will continue throughout the month, with the city aiming to drop off 20,000 bins. Residents will be able to put all their recyclable material into the bins for the new program.

“We want to get these carts out before Christmas. Everyone generates more waste during Christmas. They can start filling this cart up and we’ll be there the first week of the new year to pick it up,” said Elliot Schneider, the manager of Environmental & Fleet Services for the City of St. Peters.
