Liverpool’s City Council is looking to improve its waste management and recycling performance after a report showed the local England authority was nearly last among 333 entries.
The report revealed that Liverpool’s recycling rate had fallen to 17.9 percent, which ranked 332 out of 333 among the local authorities. Independent councilor Alan Gibbons has called this result “catastrophic.” To improve, Liverpool City Council has revealed that it will bring new measures and new bins to households.
Homes will be provided with a new bin for food waste, which will be collected separately from existing bins. Residents will not need to pay for the new food waste bins.
