Officials in Fort Wayne, Ind. announced a campaign this week that aims to make the city’s recycling programs stronger through education and awareness.

Mayor Sharon Tucker and Solid Waste Manager Matt Gratz joined GFL Environmental, which was awarded the contract for Fort Wayne in 2022 and a contract to transport materials to a new MRF in Pontiac, Mich., to announce the “Keep the Recycling Machine Running Clean” campaign. The campaign will prioritize educating residents on how to properly recycle, including online videos to teach viewers about “wish recycling.”

As part of GFL’s contract with the city, the company has appointed an Education Coordinator who will host recycling awareness workshops, seminars, and community events.
