The Arkansas Department of Energy and Environment, Division of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is putting together a project that will see statewide meetings informing waste management districts on public perception and education.

The project will update the Statewide Solid Waste Management Plan (SSWMP) and create guidelines for tracking data on recycling while providing education and outreach to improve recycling reporting.

“With new technologies and new products, it is imperative to ensure DEQ’s and regional solid waste management board’s plans are adequately supporting Arkansas’ needs," said Shane Khoury, Arkansas E&E Secretary.
