A new bill from Senator Heidi Campbell (D-Nashville) will look to remove the need for landfills and create jobs in Tennessee.

The Tennessee Waste to Jobs Act, to be introduced by Sen. Campbell, will see the state’s packaging producers join a statewide Producer Responsibility Organization (PRO). Which would have companies, “finance recycling services based on the type and volume of packaging they produce, freeing local governments from bearing these cost.”

Sen. Campbell’s bill will look to improve recycling programs with the hopes of cutting landfill costs for taxpayers and reducing the need for new sites. Plus, Sen. Campbell hopes the bill will create new jobs and provide more raw materials for local businesses.
