Coca Cola Co., in partnership with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), has set new sustainability goals for 2020, including a 75-percent recycling and recovery rate of bottles and cans in developed markets.
The Atlanta-based beverage maker along the Washington-based WWF also said in a news release that its sustainability goals include using up to 30-percent plant-based material for all its polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic bottles by 2020.
On the recycling goal, Coke said it will continue to reduce the amount of material and energy used in its packaging as well as continue to use both recycled and renewable content.
Coke has partnered with WWF since 2007 to protect freshwater resources around the world while helping to improve the efficiency of Coke’s global operations.
