Paterson, N.J. May Seek Proposals for Construction of Waste-To-Energy Plant

The city is exploring the possibility of allowing the construction of a plant in Paterson that would convert garbage into fuel, a shift from Mayor Jose “Joey” Torres’ previous opposition to the idea.

The Torres administration is asking the City Council for its support on a plan to ask for proposals for the construction of such a plant at an unspecified location. Officials said suggestions for the site would be part of the proposals.
