Lebanon has agreed to construction of a $3.5 million “downdraft gasification plant,” designed to keep about 8,000 tons of waste out of landfills annually and convert those disposal items into clean energy.
The facility will be built on Hartmann Drive and is expected to be operational in 2016.
Blended waste wood, scrap tires and sewer sludge will be accepted and converted into a fuel gas that will generate up to 300 watts of electricity.
