Massachusetts-based Ameresco received approval for a processing plant and underground pipeline at Keller Canyon Landfill in Pittsburg, Calif.
The 48,000 sq. ft. facility, which will be entirely at the landfill site, will process excess greenhouse emissions. A 2.85-mile pipeline will connect with the existing PG&E natural gas pipeline nearby.
The new deal includes a provision that says that Ameresco will provide "$50,000 a year for the Keller Canyon mitigation fund to distribute to the community."
