The hazardous waste division of Veolia Environmental Services North America Corp. has reopened its hazardous reclamation and treatment facility in West Carrollton, Ohio.
Veolia ES Technical Solutions LLC rebuilt the facility after a 2009 fire with upgraded technology to reclaim and repurpose eight million gallons annually of oils, paints, solvents and other hazardous materials, Veolia said in a news release. More than 70 percent of those materials come from businesses in the Ohio Valley region. Many of the solvents are reclaimed to 99.5 percent purity.
Technology used at the facility allows for 98 percent emissions recovery, above the 90 percent of the previous system. Veolia increased the capacity of the storage tanks by 24 percent to allow for more efficient processing and outbound shipments.

"We met with employees 48 hours after the incident and made the commitment that we would rebuild the facility, placing sustainability and safety at the top of our priority list. This new facility is built to the highest industry standards utilizing the most advanced technologies to ensure lower emissions and a safe work environment."
