Liberty Tire Recycling Partners with NASCAR

Article-Liberty Tire Recycling Partners with NASCAR

Liberty Tire Recycling and NASCAR are partnering to enhance tire recycling in connection with the auto racing.

Pittsburgh-based Liberty said in a news release that as the official tire recycler of NASCAR Green it will keep discarded tires out of landfills and recycle them into new products. Liberty Tire Recycling products, such as rubberized asphalt, will be used to repave racetracks and parking lots at NASCAR Home Track racetracks nationally. Liberty also will provide GroundSmart rubber mulch for needed tree landscaping around the country.

The partnership is part of a month-long effort by the sport, NASCAR Race to Green, to improve Daytona Beach, Fla.-based NASCAR’s carbon footprint. NASCAR claims to have the largest recycling program in sports, including the recycling of about 120,000 Goodyear tires from NASCAR’s top three national series each year.

NASCAR Green’s other partners in the recycling program include Coca-Cola, MillerCoors, Creative Recycling, Goodyear, Safety-Kleen and Sprint.

Liberty recycles more than 140 million tires annually.
