Barron’s has named Denver-based apparel and footwear maker VF Corporation the top company in its 100 Most Sustainable Companies list.

Because 2020 has posed subtantial new challenges to businesses in the form of the COVID-19 pandemic and widespread protests and social unrest, Barrons recently re-ranked the annual Most Sustainable Companies list that it issued in February 2020 to take into account the sharper focus on factors such as data security, product safety and quality, workplace diversity, and companies’ interactions with employees, customers, and communities.

Based on that recent re-ranking, VF vaulted from No. 21 on the Barron’s list to No. 1.

VF manufactures an array of outdoor, sportwear, and workwear apparel and accessories under such brand names as North Face, Timberland, JanSport, and Kodiak. VF controls more than half of the U.S. backpack market.

Barron’s is a weekly news magazine published by Dow Jones & Company.
