A fruit farming family in Herefordshire, United Kingdom began making gin in a bucket four years ago using fruit leftover from the harvest. 

After winning a competition from the budget supermarket Aldi, the farming family has won an investment for 18,000 bottles of its gin, called Penrhos Gin, to be sold in 900 stores across the United Kingdom. 

Penrhos Gin was founded to make use of blueberries, raspberries, cherries and apples that would have otherwise gone to waste. Based on yielding calculations this year, the farm will generate approximately 3,000 boxes of blueberries that will be used alongside traditional botanicals and alcohol.
