Adidas is focused on innovation. The company has produced Adidas x Parlay shoes from ocean plastic as well as Loop, which can be ground up and recycled into new shoes.

Adidas recently introduced a new industry-first textile called String that it will use in its shoes. String combines athlete data, additive manufacturing and robotics to create a lightweight upper where each thread is individually selected and data-mapped for a seamless, lightweight fit.

Adidas built a robotics machine and software to use athlete data to understand where the threads should be placed. This new offering will allow athletes to perform better.

The company plans to introduce the first commercial product in late 2021 or early 2022.
