California has introduced a bill to encourage local governments to recycle and divert their green waste from landfills.
State Assembly member Das Williams, D-Santa Barbara, introduced AB 1594, saying green waste should be used as compost rather being disposed of or used as alternative daily cover.
"Global warming is the moral issue of the next hundred years,” Williams said in a news release. “These materials should be properly composted so we as a state can reduce our contribution to global warming."
