Watertown Mayor Wants to Study a New Method of Recycling

Mayor Jeffrey E. Graham has proposed a different method of recycling be made available to the city that would allow residents to put all of their recyclable materials into a single container.

Currently, residents must separate plastic, glass, tin and cardboard into different containers before they put the recyclable materials out to the curb.

The mayor said he believes that method “discourages” residents from recycling, causing them simply to throw away the recyclables, which then end up in the Rodman landfill, operated by the Development Authority of the North Country.
