Connie Burns, sanitation director for Georgia’s Effingham County and a prominent member of the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA), died Aug. 12 at the age of 43.
Burns also was director of Keep Effingham Beautiful and other environmental organizations, according to her obituary. SWANA held a moment of silence for her during its awards breakfast Aug.14.
Effingham County includes part of Savannah.
