Coal Ash Landfill Solar Project Would be Wisconsin's Largest Sun Power Generator

Alliant Energy Corp. and Hanwha Q CELLS USA on Monday announced plans for the largest solar power project built to date in Wisconsin.

The Madison utility said the project will be built on the coal ash landfill on the site of the company’s power plants in the Town of Beloit, including both the Riverside Energy Center and the Rock River Generating Station.

The solar project will be built, owned and operated by Hanwha. Hanwha will sell the power to Alliant for 10 years, and then Alliant would have an option to buy the project at that point.
