Waste Management Opens Recycling Unit in Colorado

Article-Waste Management Opens Recycling Unit in Colorado

Waste Management Inc. has opened a new recycling facility in Sterling, Colo.

The new facility will allow the Houston-based Waste Management to offer curbside, single-stream, commercial single-stream and drop-off recycling in northeastern Colorado, the company said in a news release.

Waste Management said it is able to offer recycling in the area as a result of a state grant from the Department of Public Health and Environment’s Recycling Resources Economic Opportunity Fund Grant Program (RREO). The grant partially funded the construction of a new building to process recyclables at the Waste Management site in Sterling.

The facility has the potential to provide recycling access to about 48,000 people in more than 17,500 households in the region access to recycling, with the potential to divert more than 3,750 tons of household recyclable material from the landfill per year.
