Ben Wietsman Leasing New York Land for Scrap Recycling Expansion

Ben Wietsman of Albany LLC has gotten approval to lease additional land in the Port of Albany (New York) for scrap recycling.

The Albany Port District Commission voted to lease a 12-acre site to the unit of Owego, N.Y.-based Upstate Shredding LLC-Ben Weitsman, near the company’s 18-acre retail scrap yard and port facility that opened last August, Ben Weitsman said in a news release.

The new site will provide expansion potential for current Ben Weitsman yard as well as provide additional space for the installation of a new shredder, full downstream system and eddy current separation system, which are currently under construction. The new shredder will be operational in April, the firm said.

“We are very pleased with the decision in our favor by the Albany Port District Commission. We love being in the capital district and look forward to continuing to grow, add jobs and help those within the community,” said Adam Weitsman, owner of Upstate Shredding-Ben Weitsman.
