Tuesday morning a fire started at the Redwood Landfill in Novato, California. Firefighters were dispatched and able to get the flames under control by Wednesday morning.

Redwood Landfill Fire Covers Novato With Smoke

On the morning of Tuesday, September 6th, the Redwood Landfill in California sent smoke covering Novato. Believed to be started by accident, the landfill fire was under control by Wednesday morning.

Firefighters were initially dispatched at 5:00 PM, and no one was harmed while suppressing the fires. Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Jeff Whittet states the fire was likely sustained and/or started by the extreme heat prevailing in the area and urges locals to avoid using heavy machinery such as lawn mowers until the temperatures go down.
