NWRA Recognizes Workers Memorial Day

Arlington, VA – On Workers Memorial Day, the National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA) joins companies and workers throughout the United States in remembering those who did not come home from work this past year. We ask all members to observe a moment of silence to remember the men and women who did not make it home safely and to protect our workers as they continue to keep our communities safe and clean.

“This past year, waste collection workers have been on the frontlines of the COVID-19 global pandemic. They faced this added challenge with great professionalism,” said NWRA President and CEO Darrell Smith. “We pause to honor those who did not complete their shift and whose families are changed forever. If we are to become a safer industry, we need remember those who have passed and remain committed to protecting the living.”
