Officials are reminding residents about proper disposal after a blaze erupted at the Rapid City, South Dakota landfill.

Crews were called to the material recovery facility (MRF) on the property and were able to save the building, but not before 40 tons of trash was consumed in the blaze.

Although the cause is still under investigation, the fire department says lithium-ion batteries have been causing an issue at the site. Two fires already have erupted in the last two weeks.
