The Sioux City, Iowa, City Council is voting on a new $45 per ton tipping fee at its Citizens Convenience Center, which would put the total approximately $3.70 higher than the city’s current disposal agreement. The fee would help the city’s hauler, Gill Hauling, continue to accept the current volume of waste and help cover the cost of transferring the city’s recyclables to a recycling company in Le Mars, Iowa.

The "tipping fee" paid by people bringing items to Sioux City's Citizens Convenience Center will be $45 per ton under a proposed amendment to the city's waste disposal agreement that will go before the City Council Monday.
The request, which will put the total approximately $3.70 higher than Sioux City's current disposal agreement, will help Gill Hauling, the Jackson, Nebraska-based company that hauls Sioux City's garbage and recycling, to continue accepting the current volume of waste, the company says.
