In late 2017, the city of Houston suspended curbside recycling service until further notice so that it could focus on removal of debris that was caused by Hurricane Harvey. The city resumed curbside recycling collection on November 13, 2017, and beginning on March 1, the city will resume yard waste collection. The city will also restart bulky waste collection on April 2.
The city will pick up yard waste and bulky waste in alternating months, collecting yard waste in January, March, May, July, September and November and bulky waste in February, April, June, August, October and December.
Chron.com has more information:
Houston crews will resume collecting residents' junk waste and yard waste for the first time since Hurricane Harvey diverted all trash collection efforts other than weekly garbage pickup to removing storm debris.
The regular tree waste schedule will restart March 1, and normal junk waste pickup (furniture, appliances and other bulky items) will resume April 2.
The city retrieves these special types of trash on only one day every other month; to find your service day, enter your address into the search bar on this city website.
