Jim Cosman, former president and chief operating officer of Republic Services Inc., died earlier this month at age 69.
Cosman retired from Republic in 2000 after joining the company in 1996. He worked for 30 years in the solid waste industry.
Cosman died Jan. 7, according to an obituary in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. He also was a professional baseball player, with the Pittsburgh Pirates as an outfielder and the St. Louis Cardinals as a pitcher.
He is survived by his wife, Sandee, four children and 18 grandchildren.
