A statewide ban on non-reusable plastic bags has caused suppliers to change their approach. Under the legislature, plastic bags that are at least 2.25 thousandths of an inch thick can remain in use as long as they are composed of at least 40 percent recycled material. This is an exciting step in the direction of waste reduction, however, these new thicker types of bags can not be sent to recycling centers despite some of them touting the symbol of recyclability. in recent months, residents of Seattle have encountered several issues with adjusting to these new everyday items.
