The Taos News has more information on the event:

Responsible recycling meets over-the-top creative fabulousness when the Glam Trash Fashion Show returns to Taos Plaza Saturday (Sept. 17), starting at 4 p.m. The show features a runway of imaginative outfits, all made by members of the community out of the everyday things we normally might throw away.

Jean Nichols, director of Art for the Heart — a Peñasco-based organization that seeks to foster health through creativity — talked about the show’s evolution. “Nicole Kowalski and I put on the first Glam Trash Show at the Martínez Hacienda in 2001. The idea grew out of a passion for costuming, creativity and the environment — reduce, re-use, recycle, restore. It was and is a fun way to engage all ages together in one show, and to highlight environmental and social issues. Every year it grows and gets better.”
