Procter & Gamble has entered into an agreement with Eastman Renew to use materials made from waste plastic that would have otherwise ended up in landfills for select products and packaging.

The two companies will also collaborate on advocacy initiatives aimed at reducing reliance on virgin plastic and enabling a circular economy.

Together, the companies plan to expand the collection of hard-to-recycle plastics, to further divert waste from landfills. The plastic will be used to create new materials.

In addition, Eastman is building one of the world's largest plastic-to-plastic recycling facilities in Kingsport, Tennessee. It is expected to be complete in 2022. The facility will consume over 200 million pounds annually of landfill-bound waste plastic in the making of Eastman Renew materials.
