Students at Johnson Elementary School are making a huge effort to recycle to help out their environment.

The concentrated effort begins in the lunchroom of Johnson Elementary where students have eight different recycling contains and one extra container for trash that belongs in a landfill.

Finley Duke, a 5^th grader at Johnson Elementary, helped start the recycling program as part of the school’s Eco Warriors Club. “It’s just been really awesome, and we’ve saved so much recycling,” said Duke.

4^th grade teacher Jillian Booth says this program keeps 1,200 gallons on recyclables from ending up in landfills every week. Previously, the students would fill four bags of trash during lunch time, now the school is down to only one.
