Electra Battery Materials Corporation has successfully produced lithium from black mass in recent recycling trials.

Electra Battery Materials Corporation has been conducting recycling trials at its refinery near Toronto, Canada and it has successfully been able to recover lithium from black mass.

Recovering lithium from black mass helps support the electric vehicle supply chain, as lithium is a critical material needed for electric vehicle batteries. And as the need for critical minerals, such as lithium, increases, this recycling process of black mass will prove to be very important.

Electra will be selling all its recovered materials to third-party companies for additional processing and to be re-used in several applications.
