Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corp. (RIRRC) has launched a statewide recycling program and opened a renovated material recycling facility (MRF).
The Johnson, R.I.-based RIRRC, a quasi-public agency that manages the state’s recycling program, launched a recycling program called Recycle Together RI, it said in a news release. It also opened a MRF in Johnson in which it invested $16.9 million in equipment to make the program possible.
RIRRC owns and operates the Central Landfill and MRF in Johnson. It is not a department of the state government but a public corporation that aims to be self-sustaining through the sale of recyclable products, methane gas royalties and disposal fees.
