Born and raised in Torrington, Conn., Donald Albreada has been active in the trash business for more than 30 years. He is currently the sole owner of Albreada Refuse & Sweeping, LLC, located in his hometown. Though Albreada’s apparently not a fan of working within the constraints of a given question, we’ll cut this Sinatra-loving family man some slack as long as he keeps bending the rules to sing our praises.
Waste Age: What is your pet peeve?
Albreada: When I try to teach somebody something and they don’t listen.
Waste Age: What is your idea of the perfect day?
Albreada: Having a smooth day at work.
Waste Age: What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
Albreada: “Work hard and good things will happen.”

Albreada: It was actually a magazine — Waste Age!

Albreada: “The Godfather.”

Albreada: “60 Minutes.”

Albreada: I have seen so many strange things. There is not one that stands out.

Albreada: Beach; preferably an island.
Waste Age: What is the one thing you couldn’t live without?
Albreada: Three things: My wife and two daughters.
Waste Age: If you could invite three people — living or dead — to a dinner party, who would they be?
Albreada: My father and two brothers, who passed at an early age.
Waste Age: If you weren’t serving in your current role, what would you like to be?
Albreada: An airline pilot.

Albreada: The New York Yankees.

Albreada: The ability to go back in time.

Albreada: Rafting down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon.
