-A Local I-Team investigation shuts down an illegal dump site being run by Memphis Public Works employees.

The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation is now investigating and the city has started an internal investigation of its own. 

"This is a very embarrassing situation and it is inexcusable," said Memphis Public Works Director Dwan Gilliom. 

Our cameras caught crews illegally dumping on a dead end street near the old Firestone plant in north Memphis. There were piles of trash, including Memphis City Beautiful boxes. That is the city agency devoted to making Memphis a cleaner city.
