A state Senate committee approved a bill Monday that adds oversight to actions taken by the Lake County Solid Waste District board of directors.
Senate Bill 390, sponsored by state Sen. Rick Niemeyer, R-Cedar Lowell, now moves to the Senate floor for consideration.
Niemeyer's bill calls for approval from the three-member Board of Lake County Commissioners when the 26-member solid waste board enters into contracts or plans to construct and operate solid waste management facilities.
