Plastics Recycler Axion Boosts Capacity in Texas, Ohio

Article-Plastics Recycler Axion Boosts Capacity in Texas, Ohio

Plastics recycling firm Axion International Holdings Inc. is expanding capacity at its two facilities in Texas and Ohio.

Axion, which recycles plastics into products such as rail ties/sleepers and composite building products, added manufacturing and fabrication capabilities and capacity at its facilities in Waco, Texas, and its headquarters in Zanesville, Ohio, according to a news release.

At Waco the recycled throughput needs to remain at more than 2 million pounds per month. The production rate has increased recently in part because of improvements in raw material sourcing.

The Zanesville operation’s reprocessing of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) in baled bottles has doubled in capacity. Earlier this month the facility began making laminated and heavy mats from the recycled materials.

Axion said it is planning on doubling production capacity again before the end of the year.
