Grocery stores in the Puget Sound are recently participated in a recycling pilot sponsored by Dow, General Mills and the American Chemistry Council.
The pilot was aimed at independent stores as big box retailers already have programs in place for plastic bag and wrap recycling.
About 94 percent of the plastic that was dropped off during the pilot was able to be reused.
