Bellingham Public Works in Bellingham, Wash. has announced it will begin collecting organic waste from residents next year.
Starting early on in 2025, Bellingham will begin organic waste collection as part of the city’s plan to lower climate emissions, as well as reduce overall waste. The FoodPlus! organic waste bin will be given to single-family residents living in buildings with four units or less.
There will be a fee for the service, but the city plans to offer solutions to help manage and reduce costs for seniors, the disabled, and low-income residents.
