Cherokee County, Kan., Commission Tables Revisions to Landfill Plan

herokee County commissioners tabled a move today that was intended to block a new landfill after legal questions were raised.

Commissioners had planned to update the county's trash plan to prevent a new landfill being built near Riverton by Jordan Disposal.

But an attorney for the company questioned if that update is allowed under Kansas law.

When asked after the meeting if the update is legal, Presiding Commissioner Richard Hildebrand shrugged.
